Kahlua Spiked Pecans (Adapted from Stop and Smell the Rosemary)1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 large egg white
3 tablespoons Kahlua
4 cups pecan halves
Preheat oven to 325
In a small bowl, whisk together sugar, cinnamon and salt.
In a large bowl, whisk together egg white and Kahlua. Add pecans and stir well to combine.
Sprinkle half the sugar mixture on top - mix well. Pour the rest of the sugar on top and stir until completely combined. Scoop the mixture onto a large baking sheet lined with foil and coated with nonstick spray. Spread the pecans to an even single layer.
Bake until pecans are lightly toasted and browned, stirring every 10 minutes - about 20 to 25 minutes total. Remove from the oven and scoop the hot pecans onto wax or parchment paper to cool completely.

What a great hostess gift this would make!
ReplyDeleteIs it possible to use the same recipe on walnuts? I have a ton of walnuts at home and no pecans...got almonds as well!
ReplyDeleteJEP - I agree!
ReplyDeleteRoselle - I don't see why not!
These are wonderful. Made two batches last weekend for gifts, and they were a big hit! Packaged them in antique tea cups I'd bought at auctions. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAnon - I love that idea of giving them away in little tea cups.
ReplyDeletemm. they're nice.
ReplyDeletebut they're a tad high on sugar though.
how do i make BBQ flavored pecans?
Elaine - I've never tried BBQ pecans... it sounds tasty though!
ReplyDeleteHi Joe,
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your site and it's super amazing! I love the recipes and the photos. I am raw vegan myself but love to cook/bake for and entertain others.
I was wondering, in this recipe do you think I could omit the egg whites? If so, would you suggest using a bit more Kahlua instead?
Thanks for your help,
Eva
Eva - The egg white is what makes everything stick, so I don't think it would work just adding more Kahlua. Sorry!
ReplyDeleteFinally got around to making these tonight. Yum, yum, YUM! You have made me very popular with my husband lately! Buckeyes, gingerbread popcorna nd kahlua pecans apparently are the ticket to his heart! ;)
ReplyDeleteKA - Great! Thanks for the feedback!
ReplyDeleteDelicious, fast and easy! Exactly what I needed the night before teacher gifts are due in before winter break! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteKatie - Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI made 4 pounds of Kahlua-Spiked Pecans and packaged them up as Christmas gifts. Very easy to make and so delicious - can't really taste the Kahlua though. Received many compliments and have asked me to pass on the recipes. Thanks for the post.
ReplyDeleteAnon - Sounds like you had some very lucky recipients!
ReplyDeleteMade these for our Christmas party last night. They were a huge hit. Although, I'm surprised there were any left to put out for the party, because my husband and I kept sneaking them right off the baking sheet. Husband burned his tongue on the first one, but kept going back for more. I'm going to make more this week for gifts. Thanks for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteAlissa - I know what you mean. I had to make another batch because we were several bags short after Jeff and I kept "sampling". Thanks for the feedback!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! This was amazing!! I made a couple of bell jars to give out as gifts and the leftovers, which were supposed to last for at least a day, were gobbled up by my husband in 15 minutes.
ReplyDeleteJulie - Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThese are terrific! Left them on a Christmas plate on my counter and my whole family "grazed" until they were gone! Yum, yum. Although I would prefer a little more of the Kahlua taste myself.
