As soon as she saw it in the Food and Wine she knew she wanted it. Did you make the cake as written? It calls for a lot of sugar.Randihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06706134539834283798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14099844.post-72994075353241374092007-11-22T13:40:00.000-05:002007-11-22T13:40:00.000-05:00Holy Smokes, that cake looks good.Happy Thanksgivi...Holy Smokes, that cake looks good.

Happy Thanksgiving, Joe!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14099844.post-51459389910963327852007-11-21T22:40:00.000-05:002007-11-21T22:40:00.000-05:00Manggy - It is from Nancy Olson.Joanna - yes, it i...Manggy - It is from Nancy Olson.

Joanna - yes, it is pretty decadent! I think I would prefer keeping the peanuts though, in this recipe.

Alysha - It is definitely one of our favorite combinations!

Deborah - This would be a show-stopping birthday cake for sure!

Katie - I think a layer like that would just get lost with the other intense flavors already happening. Good thinking though, especially if you just make the cake by itself!

Hillary - Thanks, back at you too!

Ed - hee hee, I know! That is one of the reasons we had to make it.Joehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12900263145684208002noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14099844.post-55940740291543241412007-11-21T21:32:00.000-05:002007-11-21T21:32:00.000-05:00Joe - Oh my goodness. You really do spoil those co-workers. Just an idea, how about a layer of cherry or raspberry jam too, or is that one step too far? :)Katiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05008246307753272616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14099844.post-17269682588594722602007-11-21T11:19:00.000-05:002007-11-21T11:19:00.000-05:00I made this shrimp back in June. It's a crunch layer (like a Nestle crunch bar), a chocolate cake layer, a faux peanut butter mousse layer (made with whipped cream instead of egg whites, and a faux chocolate mousse layer - all topped off with a ganache. Definitely not for the faint of heart!Alyshahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06914870543398140819noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14099844.post-69297603113977846852007-11-21T04:31:00.000-05:002007-11-21T04:31:00.000-05:00Oh my ... and I don't even like peanuts. We don't do this sort of cooking / eating, on account of the dread cholesterol.

All the same, I think it's irresistible, and that I will find myself sleepwalking to the kitchen to make it

Thanks for sharing!

JoannaJoannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06790888857849562408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14099844.post-20109443991957771712007-11-21T02:08:00.000-05:002007-11-21T02:08:00.000-05:00That is fan-freakin-tastic, Joe.
