Spicy Pizza Sauce (Adapted from CL)
1 teaspoon olive oil
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 cup white wine
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
14.5 ounce can fire-roasted crushed tomatoes, undrained
1/2 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
In a large saucepan, heat oil over medium-high. Add onion and sauté until tender, about 3 minutes. Mix in garlic and cook about 1 minute. Stir in wine and let bubble for 30 seconds. Mix in tomato paste, oregano, crushed red pepper, black pepper and tomatoes. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until thick. Remove from heat and stir in vinegar. Let cool until ready to use.
