While running some errands today, we came across an interesting development in the candy section. Apparently there are now mini hersheys kisses dressed in colorful candy coatings... Blue, red, yellow, green, and orange colored M&M clones called Kissables.
I have plans for these tasty little gems which remind me very much of pieces from the board game called Sorry! Make sure to check back later in the week to see what I come up with - will they go in brownies? Ice Cream? How about a tasty cookie? I will let you know when we decide!
Heading off to the airport to pick up Mom (if the flight stops being delayed that is...) as she is coming out for a week stay for some good eats and a breather from the farm. Netflix redeemed themselves by sending some good movies this weekend. Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith will be the DVD of the night. We were in Disneyworld when this was released and it was fun wandering around Downtown Disney and seeing almost everyone dressed up and waiting to go in for the midnight showing.
My 3 year old yelled "Hey come look at these!" to her sister when she got a look at your pics here. Where did you find these? I can't wait to see what you make with them!
ReplyDeleteOK, how long did it take you to unwrap all those kisses? ;)
ReplyDeleteJoe,
ReplyDeleteI saw those as well. Interesting when you first see them because they reminded me of a box of Crayola Crayons.
I will have to try them at least once. I am a bit put off by the "shell" concept because I eat Kisses for the smoothness, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.
As for the recipes, my first thought was a substitute for M&M cookies, but they texture may be wrong due to the thickness of the Kissables.
Good luck, though, and keep us updated.
Oo I've never seen those before! The second photo enlarged seemed to grow while I scrolled down the page. Kinda freaky. Anyhoo, I'd love to eat them in brownies. Or cookies. Or. ANYTHING.
ReplyDeleteCookies and ice cream both sound good.
ReplyDeleteIf you really want to play up the board game look (and they *do* look like Sorry! pieces), make some checkerboard cookies and poke the little guys into place on the top. Yeah, it's work, I know. But just think how cute it'll be!
These are really cool!! (although I don't like hershey's chocolate...)
ReplyDeleteLike Seth, I also tought they were crayons at firts and then you mentioned the sorry pieces, and they do look like those!
I think they would look very nice mixed into ice cream, can't wait to see what you are going to make with them!!
Ana
Michele - I found them at Sams club of all places!
ReplyDeleteSweetnicks - hee hee! Thankfully they are already unwrapped!
Seth - Crayons! I see that now!
Robyn - They are pretty new. I like them plain and can't wait to try them out in a baked recipe!
Chloe - Good call, I wonder why they didn't put some purple in there!
Nic - Hey! Thats a good idea - although a lot of work... That will have to go into the pot of ideas!
Those Kissables are so cute! Not sure how big they are, but I was thinking they'd be fun to use for thumbprint cookies or PB Blossoms (the cookies with the kisses pressed into the top). I'll have to look at my stores for them!
ReplyDeleteThese are really cute! They remind me of a new product I found here at Orange Farm. Do they have those in AZ?
ReplyDeleteThey might be a NY thing only. Anyways, the product they resemble is one called "Sunny seed drops"
(chocolate coated sunflower seeds dipped in EVERY imaginable color.)I would love to play in a basin filled with them - they are so tiny and smooth!:o)
Kari - They are actually pretty small - just a bit bigger than the "large" M&Ms
ReplyDeleteCaroline - I have actually seen the candy coated sunflower seeds at Trader Joes before but I didn't buy them. They looked really good though!
Joe, absolutely fabulous photo.
ReplyDeleteI thought of Sorry game pieces when I first saw these too!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to make a sugar cookie game board and frost accordingly as a dessert at a family gathering this January. I think it will go over well with everyone, plus it should be really cute.
I just love your blog, btw. Your recipes are always great and your pics a beautiful!:)
