You may have noticed that we missed a post yesterday - it turned into a very long day and we were pretty tired by the time we arrived home. This past week we flew out to Minneapolis (which is why we were able to play catch-up with recipes that we had not posted yet!) so Jeff could be at his new job for the first week. (PS... as with all of the pictures we post, you can click on them to see a larger and clearer version!)
We stayed right in the heart of downtown - it was so nice being back in the hustle and bustle of the city... always something happening!
We did stay extra day so we had time to meet with our new Realtor out there and drive around to see what has been built since we last lived there. It brought back a lot of memories as we drove past old houses and places we used to go! One of the places I missed the most was the Farmers Market that they have downtown. It claims to be the largest in the Midwest - while I can't confirm that, it blows anything that we've seen out here in MD or Phoenix for that matter out of the water!
We thought we'd share a few snaps that we took while we were out there enjoying all of the beautiful fruits and vegetables... it is also the place to go to people watch!
There will be a few new recipes we hope this week, but it may be kind of slow. My sister and her new husband of one year drove all the way out here from MN to visit! Remember when we posted about their wedding last year? If you are new to us here, you can see pictures from the farm and wedding here, here, here, here and here! I can't believe how much time has passed already! By the time our flight arrived yesterday in DC, they had already gotten to Frederick... so we've been going non-stop! I've been very busy in the kitchen, but it has been mostly repeat recipes that we thought they would enjoy.
Last night we started them off with the Lasagna Soup that never fails to please!
Since the weather was starting to cool off a bit tonight, we thought the All-American Chili that we first made quite some time ago would be good - and it just as delicious as we remembered!

Isn't the farmers market great!? Maybe we passed one another in the crowds...
ReplyDeleteWhere are you looking at real estate? I love MN!
Courtney
Wow, nice pictures! I wish we had a Farmer's Market like that here where I live.
ReplyDeleteIn Brazil there are these huge street Farmers Markets full of produce that goes on different streets during different days of the week.
Everything is super fresh, directly from the farm and very inexpensive too. Oh, I miss that...!
Ana
how did I miss that lasagna soup? I will definitely need to try that on a cooler day. And I do love a bowl of All-American Chili- yum!
ReplyDeleteCourtney - All over really, but we will probably be looking south or southwest of Minneapolis. We've lived in Farmington and Apple Valley - both were nice places to live. We are open to other areas though, maybe the St. Louis park area, Minnetonka or even around St. Paul! I know... that narrows it down huh?
ReplyDeleteAna - I can't wait to get back out there full time and be able to shop there when needed!
Crafty P - It is a really delicious soup! Let us know what you think!
Hi Joe, finally made the soup tonight. There was only a bowl left for DH lunch tomorow. We really liked it. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHelene - Yes, this soup is certainly a favorite of ours! Glad you liked it!
