We're here!

After a 4 day, 2850 mile drive through areas that were quite striking, very flat and monotonous, distractingly brown and salt-encrusted (with a few white-knuckled moments on crazy curves to keep the blood pumping), we've finally made it to our new place! We're out in the East Bay area of California now, which I've been told is the "last move", but you all know we have heard that before!

While we made it in one piece, all of our stuff won't be here for another week - ack! So, we're in our apartment with the pups, an air mattress and our computers until the truck comes with our belongings. It is going to be a l-o-n-g week, but we can't complain... the weather out here is gorgeous and we have plenty to do to keep us busy!

We took the dogs out this morning for their first adventure - I think they are very pleased with the new surroundings!

Hopefully once we get out things and have settled in, I will get my behind in gear and begin making more regular appearances on here!

I know that y'all were putting some miles under the car each day!! I look forward to reading about your adventures out west and the good food you are sure to encounter and make.

  13. Glad you made it safe and sound!

My husband always teases me when I say, we are not moving again, haha. (we have moved 5 times in the last 20 some years, across country, not just in town.)
But we love being back in the PNW, and I am sure you will love the bay area.

  24. Joe, you and I have shared mutual food blog links for a long time and I am grateful for that. I have been very inactive on my food blog, almost quitting entirely. However I made a post today and was just going over my blog links and ran across yours. --I see your notes that you are troubled with "gut" issues. While celiac has thankfully been ruled out, I urge you to consider whether you suffer from what the majority of us do-- which is gluten "sensitivity". This is something that won't show up on a test, and which the vast majority of physicians are simply not trained to diagnose. I just posted about it on my own blog. I recommend you do your own research on the "Paleo diet" also known as the "caveman diet". Please forgive me if you find this an intrusion. I sincerely wish you the best of health and happiness. No need to post this comment, as it really is intended just for you. best regards; Andrea of Rookie Cookery.
