Crawling out from the debris...

Sitting in a world of chaos - I think that best describes our situation right now! The closing went well and we are now "officially" in the new house! The large moving truck arrived early this morning and they spent most of the day unloading. Now we are sitting around piles and piles of these lovely things.

I know, I know... it does not reveal much of the inside does it? We will get some pictures posted once we get the sea of boxes dealt with. While we could take our time and slowly go through the boxes, we are the types that need to get everything opened and out so we can figure out where to put it. It is a little overwhelming at first, but things start to find their home much faster once we can see them, rather than leaving them in the box and trying to find what we need by guessing from the description on the box. We at least were able to get cable and internet hooked up today - the distraction is very welcome against what seems like a million pieces of packing paper.

I hope you will understand if we are not able to post daily updates with recipes until things calm down a bit here. I promise to try my best though!

  2. We were thinking of you today and hoping that the movers were doing a good job for you and not drop any boxes or furniture. I know how nervewracking moving is. Take your time Joe as far as the recipes are concerned, unpacking and getting settled is first. We are happy to wait and learn that you are happy in your new home and all settled in.

Your Blog is such a big part of our
lifes, would not miss it for anything. Take care you two, and we will be in touch, Rita

  3. I was thinking of you today and knew exactly how you felt. Everytime I move I do the same as you, I have to open every boxes and see before I can place anything anywhere. After 2 weeks of unpacking I still have to figure out couple things. A good bottle of wine always help during the unpacking.

Take your time, rest well, and comeback with more pictures.

  5. Hello Joe,

Congratulations on the new home, and the (so far) successful move.

We've been cooking quite a few recipes from your site over the last year. Absolute toppers were Lasagna soup, Beef, Cheese, and Noodle Bake, Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, Fish Tacos with Lime-Cilantro Crema, Curried Chicken with Couscous, Mediterranean Spaghetti, Crunchy Shrimp with Toasted Couscous, Ginger-Orange Sauce and Tomato and Sausage Risotto, and a lot more.

We tend to experiment a lot with the recipes we find, so we adjusted most of them slightly to fit our own taste, or simply because availibility of some ingredients varies.

We visit the blog daily, and we look forward to seeing more recipes and, of course, some pictures of the new kitchen!

Best of luck, and be good,
    Eric - The Netherlands.

  6. Hey - I think you're amazing to have blogged at all with so many boxes cluttering the place up. How on earth did you know which one had the computer? And how terrific that you sorted the computer first ... a blogger to your fingertips.

Well done, and we look forward to hearing more about the move and the new kitchen when you've put everything away

    Good luck

  7. Good luck with the unpacking! I've done it a couple times and it's always different each time. Sometimes it's a pain, sometimes it's enjoyable, but it mainly all depended how I made it.

Take your time and don't feel rushed.
