Maple-Baked Oatmeal

Maple-Baked Oatmeal (Adapted from Canadian Living )

1 1/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1/4 cup sliced almonds, lightly toasted
2 tablespoons maple sugar (or brown sugar)
2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 cups milk
cinnamon, for dusting

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Lightly coat an 8" square baking dish with nonstick spray - combine rolled oats, almonds, maple sugar, maple syrup and salt in the baking dish. Stir in milk.

Place into the oven and bake until the oats have softened and the milk has been absorbed, about 40 to 45 minutes. Remove from the oven and dust the top with your best cinnamon, to taste. Let cool slightly before serving.

Makes 4 servings.

  1. Yum I am always on the lookout for new baked oatmeal recipes. Why hadn't maple syrup occurred to me? I gotta try this!

  2. Laura - We both thought the syrup was a nice touch, especially combined with the maple sugar.

  3. This sounds amazing. I have been trying to recreate a banana oatmeal brulee for some time now, but it is never quite right. Maybe a straight bake is what I need. Thanks for a great recipe and a new idea. I will blog about my attempt and let you know how it turns out!
