Peanut Butter Blossoms
For the dough
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 large egg
2 tablespoons milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
For the toppings
granulated sugar
chocolate kiss candies
To prepare the dough
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, combine butter and peanut butter until combined. Add granulated and brown sugars - mix until combined. Beat in egg, milk and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and mix just until combined.
To add the toppings
Shape dough into 1 1/2" balls - roll in granulated sugar and place each onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Place into the oven and bake until the tops have cracked and the edges have taken on a light golden hue, about 10 to 13 minutes.
Remove baking sheet from the oven and press a chocolate kiss in the center of each cookie. Transfer cookies to a wire rack and let cool completely.
Makes about 36 cookies.

I will understand if you do not approve this comment, but I had to share! This is one of my family's favorite holiday cookies. One time my mom mailed me some when I was living in Boston, and I took some over to my friend's house. He is from Bangladesh, and upon seeing the cookies he exclaimed, "They look like chocolate nipples!" My family has called them Chocolate Nipple Cookies ever since.
ReplyDeleteYour Peanut Butter Blossomes look wonderful. I recently made a different version of these. Actually I made them twice. :-) They were definitely a hit. I'm glad yours were appreciated too.
