Wheat Berries
1 cup hard red winter-wheat berries
3 1/2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt
Rinse wheat berries under cold water. Place wheat berries in a medium saucepan and stir in water and salt.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 60 minutes, stirring every once in awhile. Drain and rinse one more time.
Makes just about 2 cups.
