After a bumpy 4 1/2 hour plane ride to Cleveland, an overnight side trip to pick up one of our cars and see our pups/kitty at Jeff's Moms house and finally... a 4 1/2 drive across PA - we arrived at the hotel in Frederick! What a weekend! We'll be living out of here until the moving truck comes at the end of the week - then the fun begins with unpacking!
Because the movers would not take certain pantry items, I found myself with a bag of Cinnamon chips that I didn't want to throw out.
I decided to make a loaf of the Cinnamon Bread that we have made quite a few times before now since I can make the recipe from memory. I did change one thing, instead of the cinnamon/sugar topping, I sprinkled on some raw sugar for a crunchy finish. We saved a couple slices so we could have it as a snack on the plane and I'm sure the packers enjoyed their pieces warm from the oven! I hope we are able to find some of the chips out in the area as well! We snapped these before the camera went "missing".
Now that we are out here in Maryland permanently, there was talk about changing the website name as we are no longer "in the desert". What do you think? Do we change it? Keep it the same?

Yes, you can get those yummy cinnamon chips here. I've seen them in Safeway.
ReplyDeleteI think you should leave the name of the blog with the word desert crossed out and a word related to your new surroundings added to the end. Or change it to Culinary (Formerly) in the Desert
Welcome to the area!
I vote for Chesapeake Culinary. I am a faithful reader of your blog. Your cooking is amazing and your photographs are some of the best on the blog circuit.
ReplyDeleteYou always impress me Joe. Even in the middle of a move you're cooking up a storm!
ReplyDeleteI love it!
Hmmmm...I think a name change would be fun!
ReplyDeletei think 'culinary in the country' would be appropriate since it appears you're going to be in a rural area (i don't think they have alpacas in the city(?)).
ReplyDeletehope all is well. joe, the ricotta cheese cookies were absolutely wonderful. thanks.
pat
I can't believe you were cooking right up til the last minute! Trust me, if I were in your shoes, no matter how much I love to cook, we would've been doing carry out of some sort by that time!
ReplyDeleteCulinary, Joe Style!
Dessert Culinary? :) Good luck, Joe.
ReplyDeleteyour blog is cool.......the pic's are mouthwatering :)
ReplyDeleteoops forgot to say this......i vote for the crossed out title
ReplyDeleteI've never seen cinnamon chips! How great!

ReplyDelete:)
I agree with the crossed out "Desesert" and replace with "Country". You might as well keep your URL the same since so many folks have bookmarked it.
ReplyDeleteGood luck in your new digs! Lucky packers to have your toasty cinnamon bread. ;D
I think ya'll should change it to something regional :) Though anything to do with crabs might be out ;)
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I made the cinnamon bread yesterday (recently) as well!
ReplyDeleteMy mind is swimming with all the name possibilities so I'm no use there....Good luck figuring out what to do!
I like culinaryt in the desert ~ and beyond.
ReplyDeletegood luck to you in your new location.
I like biscuit girl's idea of crossing out "desert" Good luck with the settling in!
ReplyDeleteWell if there is no good cuisine you could call it In the Culinary Desert!
ReplyDeleteBTW the cinamon bread looks devine.
Good Luck with the new home Joe and Jeff!! I hope you enjoy your new place and have lots of fun over there!
ReplyDeleteAbout the blog name, I still like the Culinary in the Desert...!a
Ana
Congratulations on your move. I'm looking forward to all of your delicious cooking using new ingredients available in your new area! I think you should change the name but, like biscuit girl said, keep the old name within the new one.
ReplyDeleteThe bread looks tasty. Glad you found a use for your cinnamon chips before you moved. You really are an inspiration, cooking in the midst of a cross-country move.
ReplyDeleteI like a few of the names that have been suggested, but I can't think of anything new myself. Whatever name you choose, it's still going to be you and that's what matters.
How about Culinary Crusade?
ReplyDeleteSince part of the definition is: to exert oneself continuously, vigorously, or obtrusively to gain an end or engage in a crusade for a certain cause or person.
I think this sums up your cooking. You're awesome-Good luck in your new surroundings!
God bless you and Jeff in your new home. I love this blog and look forward to new recipes and ingredients from the area. Take care and thanks for keeping us all informed on the move.
ReplyDeleteCiao, Christine
Joe - Congratulations on making it to Frederick. You're in the (new) home stretch now. I think you should change the name to "The Blog Formerly Known as Culinary in the Dessert."
ReplyDeleteI've never seen cinnamon chips before. But then again, I've never looked for them.
ReplyDeleteThe bread looks great!
Teddy
Whatever you change it to I'll still be looking to see what your up to. Smooth Move!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the move. DH was born in Fredrick, Maryland.
ReplyDeleteAs for the name, I think a small change sounds like a good idea.
Good luck on moving in.
gotta keep the name as is - it has a reputation! built-in value! equity!
ReplyDeleteGlad you arrived safely! Good luck w/ the unpacking part. Looks like we are moving into our respective new homes very close to the same time!
ReplyDeleteHey everyone! Thanks for the great feedback - Jeff and I are mulling over the options and will decide once we get moved into the house. I really appreciate the help with this!
ReplyDeleteEven if it's my first time to check your blog, I find your posts interesting. Keep up the good work! And if I could suggest a name change, it would be "Culinary in the Desert and Beyond"-a reflection of your flexibility wherever life takes you. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAnon - Thanks for the suggestion!
ReplyDeleteEJ - Yeah, we've been wanting to try not to have a name change that effects the URL much.
Wow look at you, barely settled in and still whipping up magic in the kitchen. Glad to hear the move went well.
ReplyDeleteI like culinary in the desert and beyond. :)
Christine - So far so good!
