Market day with camera...
Last Saturday, we remembered to bring the camera with when we went to set up at the Albert Lea Farmers' Market with Mom. She hauls a large white beast of a van up to the market twice a week with her homegrown, chemical-free goods from the farm. Fruits, vegetables, fresh-cut flowers and free-range eggs that fly out of her van faster than our hands can hand them out!

Oh wow, I wish I lived closer! Looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWow. Absolutely beautiful produce! I'm quite envious I don't live closer to Albert Lea. :) It's also amazing what a couple hundred miles will do for growing things. I've picked exactly 2 summer squash and it's doubtful the beans are even going to produce anything. Kale, swiss chard and the peas are the only things doing well.
ReplyDeleteThose beans look amazing!! I just know that y'all are glad to be home...Life is Good!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Vegetables Joe, what a labor of love. Wish I could buy some every week. I bet you are happy and glad that you have moved close to Mom and the Farm.
ReplyDeleteHappy Days for all of you,
Rita Hartjes
Oh, how I wish I lived close to a market that offered such beautiful produce. Now, I know why you are such a great cook, your Mom!
ReplyDeleteI love to photograph goods at the local farmers market. It amazes me how beautiful farm fresh produce can be.
ReplyDeleteThe good looks lovely and I'm thrilled for you and Jeff on this new endeavor. I can't wait to see what else you cook up on the farm!
Everything looks so beautiful! This time of year is so much fun. The harvest!! Can't wait to see what you're able to grow on your new farm!!
ReplyDeletejust beautiful!

ReplyDeleteYes I do miss your posts... I was ill for along while so I have just gotten back to your blog.. I hope your very happy at Home again... I was wondering if you could possible be of assistance to me.. I am looking for a Blue Ribbon bread book by Margie C Jenson. From the late seventies.. Since you have a lot communication with others, is it possible you may ask here... If you can Thanks and Thanks again. If not, Thanks for your time.. Tanya
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you still read this, but just wanted to let you know that I still check periodically to see if you have decided to come back to us. I for one, really really miss you and your fabulous cooking. I was just recently diagnosed with celiac disease after many years of misdiagnosing and misery. I'm happy to say that the gluten-free diet has done its job and the worst of the digestive symptoms have subsided. As long as I completely avoid any gluten. It is an exciting challenge to learn to cook all over again. I've even gone through your recipes, finding main dishes to make food more exciting. Have not yet mastered baking, but give me time and I will. I hope the doctors have discovered the root cause of your problem and gotten you some relief. Please come back Joe, even if you no longer make the fantastic baked goodies. You had lots of loyal readers. I almost never commented but I was here at least a couple of times a week for several years. Good luck with your new life. Diane
ReplyDeleteI check every few months hoping you are back blogging. Sure do miss you... Hope all is well!!
ReplyDeleteJust thinking of you today while I'm planning our cookie tins. Hope you're doing well--I loved getting ideas from your blog.
ReplyDeleteOM-gosh!! Look how much time has passed! Miss your blog so much. Please come back and give us an update! xo Val
ReplyDeleteHello Joe. I just stopped by to see if this blog ever got going again, because a few years ago it was part of my daily reading. Thank you for sharing your life and recipes for all that time. I’ll look in again from time to time in hopes of an update. Happy 2018 to you and yours!!
DeleteThese vegetables looks wonderful! I have always loved to come by and read your contents. I hope you will have something for the readers soon. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteJoe, I am FINALLY getting around to making your Key Lime Sugar Cookies (maybe 6 years after you first posted the recipe???). I needed a fun, rather show-stoppig sugar cookie for the dessert bar at a benefit and this one immediately came to mind. I miss reading your posts, and I miss the old Cooking Light boards. Hate it when things change! Hope that you are well.
