Ham and Pineapple Pizza

Ham and Pineapple Pizza

cornmeal, for dusting
about 12 ounces prepared whole-wheat pizza dough (I used my favorite recipe)
1/2 cup pizza sauce
3/4 cup julienne-cut cooked ham
scant 1 cup diced fresh pineapple
4 ounces (1 cup) shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper

Preheat oven to 450 with a pizza stone placed on the lowest rack.

Sprinkle enough cornmeal to slightly cover a pizza peel. Stretch and roll out dough to a rough 12" circle and transfer to the cornmeal-dusted peel.

Slide the crust onto the stone and cook until the bottom begins to crisp up, about 3 minutes. Carefully remove from the oven and place the crust, uncooked side down, onto a cutting board.

Evenly spread sauce over the crust, leaving a 1/2" border around the edges. Sprinkle on half of the mozzarella cheese. Arrange ham and pineapple on top. Scatter the remaining cheese over and sprinkle with crushed red pepper. Slide pizza back onto the stone and continue to bake until the cheese melts and the bottom is golden, about 10 to 12 minutes.

Makes about 4 servings.

  1. Absolutly love your blog, and now feel compelled to comment. Panago Pizza in Canada has what they call a Tropical Hawaiian. The sauce is a sort of smokey tomato sauce. Really yummy. If you enjoyed the ham and pineapple, believe it or not pepperoni and pineapple is also very good.
Thanks for the glimpse into your life, love it.
