Broccoli with Oyster Sauce (Adapted from Everyday Food)
3 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon water, divided
1 teaspoon cornstarch
pinch granulated sugar
1 tablespoon canola oil
2 garlic cloves, smashed
1 head broccoli (roughly 1 1/2 pounds), sliced into long florets
In a small bowl, whisk together oyster sauce, soy sauce, 1 tablespoon water, cornstarch and sugar.
In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high. Stir in garlic and broccoli - cook, stirring occasionally, for about 2 minutes. Add remaining 1/3 cup water - cover skillet and cook until the broccoli is crisp tender, about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Stir in oyster sauce mixture and cook until thickened, about 1 additional minute.
Makes about 4 servings.
