We have tried a fair amount of lasagna recipes over the past few months, but tonight's recipe was just a bit different than the rest.
Chicken-Ham Lasagna called for no-boil noodles originally, but I have found that we don't like the texture as much as when we use just regular dried pasta. This has several layers of tender diced chicken and thinly sliced salty deli ham. Instead of a red sauce, this uses a sharp white sauce flavored with a fair amount of parmesan and a pinch of cayenne for some heat.
This is definitely not a dry lasagna and I would recommend letting it sit for at least 15-20 minutes before cutting it to help keep its shape. I served some steamed broccoli and toasted
rye bread on the side. This lasagna is one recipe where I just can't wait to have the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Very Good!

Glad to see your review of this. It's one I put on my mental 'to try' list as I was thumbing through the latest CL.
ReplyDeleteLooks great ... There's something about next day pasta dishes that makes them better than the day you made them. Baked spaghetti is one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteLasagna always tastes better the next day! Yours looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI really like the sound of this one. I want to give this a try.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review Joe, I saw this in CL and thought it might be interesting.
ReplyDeleteOH- I saw this in CL yesterday and I plan on trying this too. I was thinking about using whole wheat lasagna noodles and maybe adding some chopped brocolli to make it a bit more healthy. Maybe mushrooms would work well in this too...
ReplyDeleteI did make the Thai Style Ground Beef from the same issue and added chopped green bell peppers, onions, carrots and red cabbage to it- it was SO good. That sauce w/ the coconut milk, thai red chili paste and fish sauce is out of this world. We ate it on top of quinoa instead of white rice.
As always, thanks for your insight. I can't wait to try this!
