Five-Spice Tilapia with Citrus Ponzu Sauce

Five-Spice Tilapia with Citrus Ponzu Sauce (Adapted from CL)

2 tablespoons thinly sliced green onions
2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon brown sugar
2 teaspoons rice wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
4 tilapia fillets (about 6 ounces each)
1 tablespoon canola oil

In a small bowl, whisk together green onions, both juices, soy sauce, brown sugar, vinegar.

In a small bowl, mix together five-spice powder, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle both sides of fish evenly with spice mixture.

In a large nonstick skillet over medium heat, add oil and let come up to temperature. Add fish to pan and cook 2 minutes on each side or until desired degree of doneness. Remove from pan, and serve with sauce.

Served with Grilled Bacon-and-Herb Grit Cakes

  1. I cooked the fish first, and was going to make the sauce afterwards~~this was so delicious, that i didn't even make the sauce!~~i will have to buy more tilapia, and try it again with the sauce!~~yum!
