Calm in the kitchen

Ah.. the calm after the storm of baking. Now the wait begins to hear how the goodies arrived. We're hoping for the best! I believe all of the recipes should be posted in the round up, there are a couple that do not really have recipes - but if you need any instructions on them feel free to e-mail me.

I was looking for a satisfying and comforting meal for dinner tonight. Spaghetti Pie looked like it would fit the bill. Cooked whole wheat spaghetti lays out a solid platform for a mixture of sour cream, cream cheese and green onions. Next, we browned lean ground sirlion and allowed it to gently simmer in some spiced tomato sauce. The beef is then layered on top of the sour cream.

A mixture of sharp white cheddar and parmesan is scattered across on top and then baked until brown and bubbly. If allowed to sit and cool for a few minutes, this cuts fairly clean and the layers are exposed. Tender noodles, a creamy and tangy center topped with the spicy and cheesy beef mixture warmed and filled this tummy. Looking forward for lunch tomorrow with the leftovers!

  1. sour cream + cream cheese = instant deliciousness. I don't think I can resist anything made with those two ingredients.

  2. Spaghetti pie, I wonder if my dad would be into this twist on an Italian classic-ha! Worth a shot-looks delicious.
I'm gettin myself prepped for a day of cookie bakin' tomorrow. Decided to make some for my co-workers to bring to the office on Thurs. Should be an adventure. Keep your fingers crossed Mona makes it out of the flying flour and eggs ok!

  3. this is one of our favorite recipes. I make it all the time, but I like using cappelini instead. Hmmmm, maybe I'll make this for dinner tomorrow!

  4. I love your christmas basket delights! There will be plenty of happy people out there with them. Spaghetti Pie sounds good. I might try that on my kids tonight! As usual I have found another excellent idea in your posts! Happy Holidays Joe & Jeff!

  5. My husband is having a poker game tonight, and was trying to figure out what to serve. I suggested your spaghetti pie, which not only sounds good, but like it would appease a crowd of beer-drinkin', poker playin' dudes.

"Spaghetti pie, I've got one better!" he said. "FRITO PIE".

Sigh. It was a great idea, Joe!

  6. Spaghetti Pie is a favorite comfort food recipe of mine--been making it since college. Yummy! Leftovers are really good as well.
